We were able to negotiate our return to St. Josephat Catholic School gym on Monday nights after they raised concerns that we had damaged the floors with marking tires. Our first Monday practice will be on September 22. As a result we have provided them assurances that ALL riders will have non-marking tires & shoes and plastic pedals. This means that trials, mountain, street tires and medal pedals are banned from indoor gym use at ALL practices. Please also ensure that you have non-marking indoor use only shoes. If you are in the market for new shoes take a look at one of our previous news articles with shoe suggestions. Hope to see you at our first indoor club practice of the season on Thursday, September 18 at 7pm. |

I recently rode 100km on unicycle for a charity ride in Mississauga, Ontario, most of which was done in the pouring rain. It was my longest ride to date and a good experience despite the rain.
I've done a full write-up with a picture of the ride for the rec.sport.unicycling newsgroup which can be found here ... http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72759
Enjoy. |

Unfortunately we have some bad news about Monday night practices ... We just received word from St. Josephat's that they have denied our request for a gym permit as they feel we damaged the floor last year by leaving tire scuff marks. Unfortunately this was the first we heard about their concerns. As a result Monday night practices have been TENTATIVELY CANCELLED until further notice. We may be able to get the gym back if we can assure the school that we use non-marking tires, pedals and shoes. Darren Bedford is in the process of sourcing non-marking tires. Effective immediately for ALL indoor gym practices, ALL riders must use unicycles with plastic pedals or pedal caps and wear non-marking indoor only shoes (no street shoes permitted). Read on for some suggestions on shoes ... |
